For a 200 year old institution more suited to punch cards and parchment, the Census and the digital age have never been a natural fit. But although 2011 marks only 50 years since computers were first used to process census results (a process which took five and a half years in 1961) the census has come a long way towards embracing digital technology.

This year’s national Census on March 27th marks the first year citizens can fill out their census online, and the local campaign has been gathering momentum trying to persuade brummies to fill out their census questionnaires.

Survey highlights fears around geo tagging your location 08/02/2011

 

Do you tag your location?  A recent survey by Microsoft highlights the high percentage of people who still have safety concerns about giving the location of where they are.  However the survey also shows that while the number of services which give you valuable information relative to where you are, such as weather or traffic info. grows, so will the number of people
