Choose and Book reaches 10 millionth booking

NHS patients have are using Choose and Book in their droves, the electronic booking system that enables people to book their appointments electronically anywhere, at any time. It has reached an impressive landmark of 10 million bookings, which has doubled the amount reached in August 2007.
This booking method is now available in all NHS Acute Trusts and 91% of GP practices in England. It is particularly popular among outpatients, as 90% of them use Choose and Book to ensure they can get a time with their GP or Consultant.
It certainly relieves the pressure off the reception area at every GP surgery across the country. It also decreases the possibility of being doubled booked at the same time as another patient. It means the doctors can see all their daily appointments in an easily accessible way.
There is no doubt Choose and Book will continue to go from strength to strength, especially as people are choosing to do more and more manual tasks electronically. Telephone and face-to-face bookings are becoming more obselete in this digital age.
choose and book may be available nationally but not to me in BEN PCT. the ability to choose and book online is not yet available and the process which I have started appears to be more bureaucratic and long winded than the old one.
I trust, in time, these glitches will be ironed out as the concept is fab
