Our Digital Family are now 8 months into their digital journey and have taken their technology skiing, used it to keep up to date with the football right down to the local league level of 9 year old Kieran and shopped online for holidays. This month is dad Simon’s turn to get some one-to-one support and a digital makeover for his business.  Dave Harte here will be giving Simon, a self-employed builder, some advice on setting up a website and promoting his services through online business communities such as BT Tradespace.

If this isn’t enough to keep them busy they will also be trialling the use of a home energy meter to provide them with real time information about the costs and environmental impact of their daily energy choices. In fact Mike Farmer who helped them install the device last week was so impressed with it that he now plans to buy one. This is part of a wider project led by Manchester City Council known as DEHEMS that aims to help households cut their energy bills through a new online energy dashboard. This provides a range of energy use information via TV, PC and mobile and includes real time projections for the total extra / saving for the next bill, compared to the last bill. By making energy usage visible in this way, it is hoped that individuals attitudes to ad hoc appliance energy choices will be more ‘switched on” or perhaps more “switched off”!

Just start a weight loss routine with a proper diet and you will shed it off. jogging, quick-paced walking– do events that get your heart rate up. Eat more veggies & fruits. It’s hard to target specific areas but it will all work its way off if you stick to a good plan.
