Red Nose Day 09 Competition
02/02/2009 - 31/03/2009
Becta and Comic Relief are calling for all schools to get involved in Red Nose Day 09 with a schools competition to find Britain's top classroom talent.
In support of this year's Comic Relief theme 'Do Something Funny for Money' this competition encourages schools to 'Perform Something Funny' and upload their own content onto the Red Nose Day Schools Showcase.
Each participating school is in with a chance of winning £5,000 worth of ICT equipment for their school. The competition hopes children and teachers will embrace technology in the classroom, showcasing both humour and the innovative use of computing facilities.
Entries can be anything from singing to dancing to stand-up comedy and will be judged by a panel from Comic Relief and Becta, following online voting by visitors on the Red Nose Day website. All entries must be unique, creative and - most importantly - funny to be in with a chance of winning.
Stephen Crowne, Becta Chief Executive, said:
"We are delighted to support this commendable initiative and hope all schools across the country will join in. Digital photography and video are creating increasingly stimulating and exciting environments for students to learn, and we hope they will inspire some unique and entertaining entries.
"Technology in the classroom is no longer a distant dream. This competition, coupled with the Next Generation Learning Charter, will help schools develop their use of technology, so we have a world class education system where all young people are inspired and motivated."
Shivonne Graham, Comic Relief's National Fundraising Manager, added:
"We're delighted to be working with Becta and hope that kids all over the country will 'Perform Something Funny for Money' this Red Nose Day and get to grips with the technology at the same time."
The rules are simple. Only one entry per school and all entries must be uploaded before March 31 2009. The winning school will be announced on 5 May. All entries will be identified by school name only - no location or individual details will be disclosed.
