The Lawrence Family

This month's Digital Family is single parent Brenda and her son Lamaar. Brenda is a retail manager and governor of a local school and thereore a very busy person. Lamaar is an energetic ten year old and both Brenda and Lamaar rely upon the digital world to support their very active lives.
Lamaar has his own laptop and a variety of gaming devices including a Nintendo, X-Box and a Nintendo Blue. Brenda's passion is her Blackberry which she "wouldn't do without ..... it frees me from the office".
A major concern of Brenda's is internet safety. She is very aware of the potential vunerability of her son, and his computer. Because of this he has been banned from accessing social networking sites.
Brenda appreciates Lamaars 'saviness' when it comes to IT. "He helped me insert a picture into a document I was working on. I could insert the image but couldn't get the text to behave properly. He clicked on a button called Format and then did another few clicks and my problem was solved". "He has even set up his own website".
