A personal way to see the capital

BT, in conjunction with io Global, CISCO and Intel, and Westminster City Council, have today launched MyPlace. This is a website where you can personalise the services on it, and then when you are among the Wi-Fi spots in Westminster it can find out where you are and let you know what is around you, cross-referenced with the preferences you have set.
Although the free services it provides are available to everyone within the Wi-Fi areas, you have to have a BT Openzone account if you want to receive email or search external sites.
BT provide the service for free, however, the company intend to recoup their costs by online advertising through MyPlace and commission on selling theatre tickets etc on behalf of certain website companies that are using MyPlace.
BT hope to work with other local authorities across the country to enable MyPlace elsewhere.
