Twitter wins prestigious award

With a 900% growth rate in 12 months, it is unsurprising that Twitter has scooped break-out site of the year at the recent prestigious Webby Awards. It was only launched in 2006, and yet the micro-blogging site now sits alongside established brands such as Flickr and MySpace (previous winners of this very award).
What Twitter excels in is the amount of celebrities that use the networking tool. Ashton Kuchter, US actor and husband of Demi Moore, recently became the first Twitterer to have 1 million "followers", other converts include Stephen Fry, Jonathon Ross and Radio 1 DJ, Chris Moyles.
Global giant Apple is showing interesting in buying the Twitter brand, and it is not surprising to see why.
