Birminghamfiz
The Birminghamfiz was a ground breaking project which was developed by Digital Birmingham & BT in 2006, which allowed people to access a whole variety of information from their mobile devices, while in the city centre, all for free.
Anyone logging onto BT's Openzone network within the city centre could access a variety of information such as what's on in the city, check job vacancies, report potholes or missed bins etc.
The service was free and was the first time a city had developed its own free wifi zone, enabling users to access a set menu of content.
The project as a concept was successfully handed over to Marketing Birmingham who has developed it further into a user friendly site giving access to directories of hotels, restaurants and entertainment, it will tell you what events are happening in the city, ensuring that you are fully informed to enjoy your time in the city.
