BECTA release Next Generation Learning Charter for schools
14/01/2009

Recent findings have discovered that not all schools are fully encouraging the use of technology in childrens learning. Therefore Becta have launched a Next Generation Learning Charter, which conveys a commitment to "giving pupils an enriched and enhanced learning experience through the use of technology".

Schools signing up to the charger will be expected, over the next three years, to:
- develop a shared vision for the use of technology;
- plan the use of ICT across the curriculum;
- use technology to enhance learning and support;
- assess how technology is supporting pupils' learning;
- ensure all staff and learners can use technology effectively and safely;
- use technology to extend learning beyond the school;
- make sure they have safe, secure and sustainable resources; and
- use technology to help learners progress and achieve.

Becta will be monitoring each school's progress and supporting them to work through the new charter effectively.
