Birmingham will be bidding for UK City of Culture 2013

Government Culture Secretary, Ben Bradshaw MP, has launched the UK wide competition, and personally invited Birmingham to bid for the UK City of Culture title in 2013.
The successful city is then better placed to stage shows such as Sport Personality of the Year, the Turner Prize and the UK music's number one night, the Brit Awards.
The deadline for outline proposals is 16th October 2009, with final submissions being made by 11th December 2009.
