Facebook changes again to the dismay of users
23/03/2009

It seems like only yesterday that Facebook overhauled its layout and appearance. Users were given the choice whether they wanted to make the switch straight away, however all were warned that the change would be mandatory in the long term.

It's time for change again, and Mark Zuckerberg and his developers have re-designed the look and feel of Facebook. Many users have likened it to Twitter - and this is no surprise. The new social network on the block has seen its popularity rise 1,689% in the last year, to over 1.78 million users worldwide. Zuckerberg has obviously noticed what is working on Twitter, however, it still lacks behind Facebook's 175 million profiles. But with a rise of over 1000% each year, Twitter will not be far behind.

94% of people on Facebook do not like their new profile designs and have started a poll to get it changed back. It seems Facebook is hoping people will get used to the changes, especially as the developers believe the amendments are responding to users' preferences, for example, being able to filter through videos, photos and news streams more efficiently.

Only time will tell, for those loyal to Facebook they will adapt - for those who aren't, it could be one of the reasons behind Facebook's decline in popularity in future years.
